Coated joint sheet metal systems

The German Society for Concrete and Construction Technology
(DBV, Deutscher Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein e.V.) based in Berlin worked out and published a comprehensive leaflet on the topic of safe waterproofing of construction joints and controlled crack joints.
We have been an active member of the working group and would like to give you a short overview of the basic requirements concerning this waterproofing system. | | |

Basis
The basis for Europe is the European Technical Assessment (ETA);
for Germany it is the National test certificate for a construction product (allgemeines bauaufsichtliches Prüfzeugnis, abP). | | |

There are three key points
| |

|
|
Coated joint sheet metals are suitable as sole elements for waterproofing construction joints. As per verification of the fitness for use they can also be used for sealing controlled crack joints. | | |
|
|
|
It is not allowed to subsequently press the coated joint sheet metal into the fresh concrete. Only the fixing material stipulated in the European Technical Assessment (ETA) and abP (National test certificate for a construction product) is to be used. | | |
|
|
|
The joint sheet metals' coating needs to be protected from soiling. The separated protective foil on our joint sheet metals prevents the coating reliably from soiling before further concreting sections. It is very difficult and time-consuming to protect the coating of joint sheet metal systems without protective foil from soiling at the construction site. | | | | |

We are glad that the DBV leaflet helps to clarify the usage and installation of coated joint sheet metal systems. At the BAU trade fair in Munich we convinced many of
